WHO WE ARE

St. Michael is a Roman Catholic community called by God to discipleship through WORSHIP, EDUCATION, and SERVICE.
We strive to be a place that exudes the joy, peace, and mercy of Christ.

WORSHIP

Worship is how we praise God! Our primary form of worship (and the main reason we exist!) is the Mass, but we also offer the sacraments as a way to enter into deeper relationship with God.

EDUCATION

What good is Good News if you don't share it? With our vibrant preschool, school, and numerous formation offerings for all ages, you could say we're pretty passionate about sharing our faith.

SERVICE

One of the most tangible ways we can love God is by loving our neighbor. That's why you'll find so many ways to get involved and give back, not just in the parish, but also in the larger Cary community.

OUR HISTORY

THE EARLY YEARS

St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church began as a mission church in 1963, with the first Mass celebrated by Rev. Michael Carey at Cary High School. By 1967, we were officially recognized as a parish and experienced rapid growth. Over the next decade, we welcomed our first full-time pastor, established a parish staff, drafted our first mission statement, and dedicated our original church building.

EXPANDING TO A NEW CAMPUS:

By the 1990s, the need for a larger campus became apparent due to the growing parish community. In 1992, the current site on High House Road was selected, and construction began in 1995 for the new church and Trinity Center. The new church was dedicated in 1996, followed by the Parish Center (1997), the installation of the stained-glass windows (1998), and the establishment of St. Michael School (1999).

TODAY:

Since 2000, our campus has continued to expand, acquiring the former Westwood Baptist Church and its land. Recent developments include the construction of Archangel Hall, the installation of a new baptismal font, and the creation of our Columbarium.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of our church at High House Road, we underwent significant renovations across our campus. These updates included enhancements to the church interior, a redesigned sanctuary with the consecration of a new altar, and expanded meeting spaces.

Our vibrant parish family consists of more than 4,000 registered families. We offer a wide range of ministries and groups, totaling over 60 active organizations. In addition to our traditional faith formation programs, we are blessed to have both a preschool and an elementary school on our campus. Our growing Hispanic Ministry brings opportunities for bilingual worship and greater inclusivity within our faith community.

WELCOMING OUR TENTH PASTOR:

We are blessed to welcome our new pastor, Very Rev. Scott E. McCue, V.F., who brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving our parish family. Fr. Scott has also been appointed as the Dean of the Raleigh Deanery by Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama. In this role, he will act as a close collaborator with the Bishop, supporting the faithful and the clergy of the deanery, overseeing pastoral care, and ensuring the proper administration of sacraments and liturgical celebrations. His leadership will continue to strengthen and unify our parish as we look forward to the future.

In addition, Fr. Scott is a member of the College of Consultors, a group of priest advisors who assist the Diocesan Bishop with important administrative matters. We are excited to have Fr. Scott leading St. Michael's into its next chapter of growth and spiritual enrichment.
