HONDURAS SISTER PARISH MISSION
HONDURAS SISTER PARISH MISSION
Description
What is the Honduras Sister Parish?
St. Michael Church partners with Nuestra Señora de Suyapa Parish in Nueva Palestina, Honduras, to support its community through education, health, agriculture, and spiritual programs.
Honduras, located in Central America, is a country rich in culture and faith but burdened with immense poverty. Our sister parish, Nuestra Señora de Suyapa, is in the rural town of Nueva Palestina, where daily life is a struggle for many families. Most parishioners are subsistence farmers, earning less than $80 per month, working tirelessly to support their families with limited resources.
Despite these hardships, our brothers and sisters in Christ live with unwavering faith and deep devotion to their community. Their love for Jesus and their connection with the parishioners of St. Michael reflect the true strength of our shared faith.
Our Mission: Making an Impact
Through the Honduras Sister Parish Mission, we are committed to improving health, education, housing, and spiritual well-being for the families of Nueva Palestina. Your support has already made a profound impact by providing:
16 Chapels Constructed in surrounding villages, bringing Mass closer to families who previously had to walk miles to attend.
100 Refurbished Laptops Delivered to students and teachers, providing essential tools for learning, research, and lesson planning.
Ongoing Medical Support including the delivery of essential supplies to a local maternity clinic, ensuring newborns and mothers receive the care they need.
Education sponsorships for children who would otherwise not afford school supplies or uniforms.
Clean water filtration systems and sanitary latrines to prevent disease and improve living conditions.
Smokeless ovens, new roofs, and concrete floors to create safer, healthier homes.
Medical support access, including a part-time doctor, nurse, and health promoters, who serve thousands of patients each year.
Sustainable agriculture programs that teach farmers better techniques to grow food and support their families.
