Hello! My name is Fr. Scott McCue, and I am the pastor here at St. Michael.
I was ordained a priest by Bishop F. Joseph Gossman on June 2, 2001, at St. Thomas More in Chapel Hill. After ordination, I served as Parochial Vicar of St. Thomas More from 2001 to 2002. In 2002, I was appointed Administrator of St. Ann Catholic Church in Clayton and became Pastor of the parish one year later.
In 2007, I was appointed Assistant Principal for Spiritual Life at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh. From 2009 to 2011, I also served as Priestly Minister to Our Lady of the Rosary in Louisburg. Most recently, I served as Pastor of St. Thomas More in Chapel Hill from 2011 to 2024, where I also held the position of Vicar Forane (Dean) of the Piedmont Deanery.
In addition to being the Pastor of St. Michael, I serve as Vicar Forane (Dean) of the Raleigh Deanery. In this role, I serve as the Bishop's vicar in this area of our diocese, overseeing the priests of the deanery and coordinating the common priestly life and activities. I serve as the Coordinator of Priest Personnel, a member of the Council of Priests, the College of Consultors, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Cardinal Gibbons High School. I am also the Diocesan Scout Chaplain.
My role at St. Michael is to lead our community of faith along the path of discipleship through worship, education, and service.
I am a huge fan of the New York Yankees and have a goal to visit every MLB stadium—so far, I’ve been to 19. I also love UNC basketball and football. "The God of All Grace" has become one of my favorite liturgical hymns, as grace is what sustains us as we walk this path home to the Father.
