Hello! My name is Grant Knier, and I serve as the Secretary and a member of the Capital Projects/Operations Committee on the Finance Council at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. This is my first year on the Finance Council, and I am honored to contribute my experience in asset management and construction to support the parish’s ongoing capital projects and operations.
I was born in Wisconsin, but my family moved to Cary when I was in Kindergarten. I grew up in Lochmere, attended Cardinal Gibbons High School, and later studied at Elon University. After spending time living in Colorado on two separate occasions, my wife and I moved to her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where we started our family and lived for 10 years. In 2018, we returned to Cary, where I now lead a family-owned Commercial Real Estate Development and Investment company.
My journey with St. Michael began in the late 1990s when my family moved from St. Andrew, making me a “kid parishioner.” Now, as an “adult parishioner,” I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the parish community in a new way. In addition to my role on the Finance Council, I am involved in a weekly Men's Small Group led by CRU, which includes parishioners from both St. Michael and St. Andrew. I also serve on various boards, including the Taylor YMCA and the Cary Chamber of Commerce.
I have been married to my wife, Emily, for 17 years, and we live in Prestonwood, raising our four children, all of whom attend St. Michael School. When I am not at work or watching my kids play sports, I love spending time outdoors. Whether it’s playing golf or tennis, hiking, or camping, I relish every opportunity to enjoy God’s creation. I truly see His beauty in nature and am incredibly thankful for all the blessings He has provided me.
