Hello! My name is Joanna Yoder, and I am a member of the St. Michael Pastoral Council, currently serving as the secretary.
In my role, I help support the council by maintaining records, assisting in communication, and contributing to discussions that help shape the future of our parish community. I have been a parishioner at St. Michael for 29 years (since 1996), and it has been a blessing to watch the parish grow and thrive over the years.
Professionally, I work as an office administrator at Edward Jones Investments. My experience in customer service has strengthened my ability to build consensus, interact well with others, and provide service and support—all of which are valuable in my role on the council. Outside of my council duties, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, listening to music, being outdoors—whether walking or working in the yard—and especially relaxing on a warm day at the lake.
What I enjoy most about being on the council is getting to know fellow parishioners and seeing our parish come to life. It is rewarding to help set goals and contribute to leading this wonderful community. For anyone considering getting more involved, my advice is simple: Just do it! I have found that involvement is what makes a large parish feel smaller. Close relationships are formed through shared experiences, and getting involved creates those connections.
Over the years, I have been involved in many different ministries at St. Michael, including:
- Pastoral Council (previously served two terms, including one as president)
- Faith Development Teacher (6th-7th grade for 9 years)
- Edge Middle School Youth Program Core Team (St. Michael for 1 year, St. Mary Magdalene for 2 years)
- International Festival (Co-chaired Games Committee for 3 years; Co-chairperson of the festival for 3 years)
- Walking With Purpose Women’s Bible Study
- Reach More Program from Evangelical Catholic (Participated with Fr. Steven, now leading my own women's Bible study on Tuesday nights)
- Eucharistic Minister
