Hello! My name is John Dear, and I am a member of the Pastoral Council at St. Michael.

For the last 30 years, I have worked in the semiconductor industry, designing parts for PCs, cell phones, and other devices, primarily in the power management field. I am also an Army veteran. My career has given me the opportunity to collaborate with people from different countries and cultures, and I hope that my leadership skills and experience working with diverse backgrounds will be valuable to the council.

I’m an outdoor person—I love camping, fishing, and hiking. When I’m at home, I cherish spending time with my family and take great joy in being a husband and father.

One of the things I enjoy most about being on the Pastoral Council is learning how the church operates and meeting others who are passionate about its mission. I have always loved serving the church and being involved—it’s a great way to give back to both the parish and the wider community. If you’re considering getting involved, I encourage you to pursue your interests. There are so many ways to serve within the church!

I currently serve in the music ministry, helping with lights, cameras, and sound, and I am also involved in the Catholic in Recovery ministry alongside my wife, Karen.
