MOTHER TERESA UPDATE (FATHER’S FAITH NOTES: MAY 30, 2021)
May is a month of celebrations: First Communions, Confirmation, Graduation. Among them this year is a special joy, congratulating Fr. Daniel Oschwald and Mother Teresa Mission on a new step forward. This past Sunday, I was grateful to be among those present as Bishop Zarama blessed the site and broke ground for the construction of their new building. It was a beautiful occasion to celebrate the great progress that is being made to bring this mission, born from St. Michael’s some 20 years ago, to fruition as a new parish. I want to congratulate Fr. Daniel, his volunteers, and staff on this milestone.
The breaking of ground for the new building is also a good time to share the happy news that Mother Teresa is now fully administratively and financially independent of St. Michael’s. For many years we have had the role of supporting them with office and administrative tasks as they developed their own leadership and structure. Thanks to the efforts of many people during these years, that task is now complete. We celebrate with and welcome Mother Teresa Mission now as our neighbor and look forward to the day, God willing soon, when the mission will officially become a parish. Until then, we continue to welcome Mother Teresa members to worship with us any time as they await the day when they will have their own Church. To Fr. Daniel and all the Mother Teresa Mission family – we wish you all the best and count on our continued friendship in Christ!

Mayo es un tiempo de muchas celebraciones: Primeras Comuniones, Confirmación, Graduación. Entre ellos este año hay una alegría especial, felicitar al P. Daniel Oschwald y la Misión Madre Teresa en un nuevo paso adelante. El domingo pasado, tuve el placer de estar entre los presentes cuando el Obispo Zarama bendijo el sitio y comenzó la construcción de su nuevo edificio. Fue una hermosa ocasión para celebrar el gran progreso que se está logrando para hacer realidad esta misión, que nació en St. Michael's hace unos 20 años, como una nueva parroquia. Quiero felicitar al P. Daniel, sus voluntarios y el personal en este momento.
El inicio de la construcción del nuevo edificio también es un buen momento para compartir la feliz noticia de que la Misión Madre Teresa es ahora totalmente independiente desde el punto de vista administrativo y financiero de St. Michael. Durante muchos años hemos tenido la función de apoyarlos con tareas administrativas y de oficina a medida que desarrollaban su propio liderazgo y estructura. Gracias al esfuerzo de muchas personas durante estos años, esa tarea ahora está completa. Celebramos y damos la bienvenida a la Misión Madre Teresa ahora como nuestro vecino y esperamos con ansias el día, si Dios quiere, pronto, cuando la misión se convierta oficialmente en una parroquia. Hasta entonces, continuamos dando la bienvenida a los miembros de la Madre Teresa con nosotros en cualquier momento mientras esperan el día en que tendrán su propia Iglesia. Al P. Daniel y toda la familia de la Misión Madre Teresa - ¡les deseamos todo lo mejor y contamos con nuestra continua amistad en Cristo!
