Hello, my name is Msgr. John Wall, and I am a pastor emeritus at St. Michael's. As pastor emeritus, I assist our current pastor in any manner requested, especially with liturgies on weekdays and weekends as well as with baptisms, weddings, funerals, and reconciliation.

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. I attended college at Georgetown in Washington, DC and the North American College in Rome, Italy. I was ordained December 18, 1960 in Rome and have served as a priest for the past 60 years here in the Diocese Of Raleigh.
During my years as a priest I have served as Catholic Chaplain at Wake Forest University, Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I became the pastor of St. Michael's in 1995 and served for ten years in that role. My great joy was being pastor at St. Michael's during the time of its relocation on High House Road and during the addition of our fine St. Michael's School. I especially love the diversity of our congregation - people from so many different backgrounds and national origins. It is truly Catholic —From the word itself meaning “universal.”

One of my favorite activities is taking groups of parishioners on pilgrimages to Europe and the Holy Land and also keeping up with former parishioners here in Cary and throughout the States. My favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 - “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him." I have been slapped by two saints of the Catholic Church, Pope St. John XXIII and St. Padre Pio; both occurred at the time I met them. (The story takes awhile to tell, but it’s interesting and fascinating.)
