Make a Difference: Sponsor a Produce Box for Families in Need
Over a year ago, St. Michael Parish launched the Chatham Estates Produce Box program to support families facing food insecurity. Now, as we move into the second year of this vital initiative, we need your help to continue making a difference in our community.
In partnership with A Doorway to Hope, volunteers deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to 100 families in the Chatham Estates Mobile Home community on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday’s of each month. By providing these produce boxes, we help families who are struggling to make ends meet. The initiative also celebrates the Diocese of Raleigh’s Centennial Year, adding a special layer of meaning to our mission of serving those in need.
Impact on the Community
The families we serve often face difficult decisions when it comes to paying for basic needs. Many struggle to afford enough food, and fresh fruits and vegetables are especially difficult to come by. By offering produce boxes, we provide these families with access to healthy, nutritious food that would otherwise be out of reach.
This support allows them to use their hard-earned money for other critical expenses like staple foods, household items, utilities, and rent. The produce boxes not only alleviate financial pressure but also improve their overall well-being by reducing stress and ensuring that they have one less worry when it comes to feeding their families. The positive impact on their daily lives is profound.
Current Progress & Immediate Need
Thanks to the generosity of St. Michael parishioners, we’ve already sponsored nearly 89 of the 100 produce boxes we committed to. However, we still need about 11 more to meet our goal and fully support the families at Chatham Estates.
For just $40 per month or a one-time donation of $480, you can sponsor a produce box for an entire year. This contribution will directly help a family in need by providing them with healthy, life-sustaining food.
