WELCOME DEACON ANDRES!

We are honored to welcome Deacon Andrés Arévalo, a seminarian of the Diocese of Raleigh, who will be with us for a pastoral year internship beginning September 12th through June, 2022. Dcn. Andrés is a transitional deacon, in preparation for ordination to the priesthood. He will be a full-time member of our staff for the year, as the pastoral year experience is meant to provide him with first hand opportunities to continue his formation for parish ministry. We know you will all join us in welcoming him!

Here's a little about Deacon Andrés!

"I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I have three degrees - electric engineer, philosophy, and theology - I received all of these in Colombia. I have been here for three years. I was in Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary and I was in Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh for one year. There I was working with the Hispanic community and others groups.

I am in my diaconal year, so at St. Michael's, I will work in different parishioner groups. I will also help at Masses preaching and serving on the altar; also I will do baptisms and weddings and visit the sick and elderly.

I love reading, camping, and hiking. I have two brothers: one lives in Rome and he is a Carmelite priest. My younger brother is finishing his studies in Psychology in Spain. My father and mother live in Bogota, Colombia.

My favorite Bible verse is Mark 8:36: "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" and my favorite saints are Saint Benedict, Saint Anthony of Padua, and Saint Agustin."

Welcome to St. Michael's, Deacon Andrés!
